Front Sway Bar Bushings - do it yourself ???
I found a ton of sway bar threads but I have one general question that isn’t apparent from reading them –
if I have to replace all four bushings on the front sway bar of my 78 SC is this something, on a scale of 1 - 10 (1 being a definite do it your self like changing your oil and 10 major engine work), that is a do it yourself job? I know this is somewhat subjective but even if I had a better understand from those who did it if you definitely need two sets of hands and the time it took you it would be a great help, thanks Jay

I'd classify front sway bar bushings as about a 2, maybe a 3. You ought to be able to get at all of the bolts without any special effort, and none of them ought to be corroded beyond recognition, requiring dremelling for removal. The most special tool you'll need is the allen (possibly -- yours may be different than mine) for the mount. Other tools -- normal sizes of metric sockets for the mounting bolts, and probably a pair of pliers to get the bushings out of the control arms.

I agree, not a hard job. However, it's nice having another set of hands when putting the sway bar back in...

I agree. The removal and replacement of the bushings is easy, but getting the bar back in was the hardest part.

Having just done this (for torsion bar removal), replacing is a BEAR without additional hands. There may be a trick to levering the bar back into place but not one that I could figure out.
