3.2 Idle tips

Like many of us my 86 Carrera cab was cursed with a 2000 RPM idle. After much research I decided to start by replacing the bushings on the bell-crank that bolts to the transmission (915).
First: lift the car as high as you can. This makes it easier.
Second: The cotter pin is inserted from the back and is spread and bent back tight to the shaft. Get a small flat head screwdriver and pry it up to get leverage.
Third: The rod going forward is a very tight fit. It is as least as tight as the gas pedal fit so be careful because, unlike the gas pedal, the level on the bell-crank will bend easily.
Fourth: The other end of the bell-crank it held by two 10mm nuts. Remove it.
Fifth: Once the two rods have been disconnected and the cotter pin has been removed REMOVE THE ROD from the transmission.Then clean things up, insert the bushings and reassembly.

did it work? there are bushings on top of the engine too

Thanks for asking. So far so good. Took it for a shot test drive, idle drops like it should and CC works. A pretty good day after all
