Alternator wiring ???
AFter seeing the post about wiring for a race car, I got thinking about my no-charging issue in my SC. The car is a 78, the engine is a 74 2.7. Should I have an external voltage regulator for my alternator on the 2.7? Does anyone have a pic of one so I know what the heck to look for? Thanks.

I believe the 2.7s and early SCs had external VRs. It should be on the left side of the engine compartment under the plastic cover. In 81 or 82 the VR was attached to the underside of the alternator. Look under the plastic cover first, it's a small, silver boxy looking thing.

HMM I guess my post never showed up.
Both the engine and the car should have an external voltage regulator. The difference may be in the wiring. The 74 had all wires carried through the 14pn connector and the 78 had a separate loom attached to the engine harness. Only the blue excitor wire went through the 14 pin connector. The VR will be on the rear console. It is usually in teh upper right corner just left of the CD. It will have a 3 pin plug in teh bottom with a brown, black and double blue wire on a single post. These three wires go to the back of the alt. and a single blue wire going forward to the dash light.
