911sc Rs!!?

Hey Guys,
Was wandering around the 'net today when I stumbled on info regarding the 1984 911SC RS. Seems Porsche was able to blow a 3.0L up to 250HP. I'm wondering if this is feasible using my stock 3.0L as a starting point, how much it would cost, and whether it would be usable as a semi-daily driver. Any thoughts?

Until more knowledgeable people answer, I'll give a go. There have been some pretty crazy 3.0 motors built and I'm pretty sure someone could build you a useable 250 hp one. However, a 3.6 swap would most likely be more economically feasible.

In a word, no. It will not make a good daily driver as it will be too peaky. Build a 3.2 instead.

Or if your empahsis is heavily on the 'semi' part then yes. but the 3.2 heads will still flow a lot better.

Start counting out the $10,000 bills now for your budget.

if you do a search, you'll find a number of threads on the SCRS. It wouldn't be cheap to build (mostly the engine...the bodywork isn't that whack), but you'd have a pretty unique "clone".

The SC/RS had a Bosch-Kugelfischer plunger injection pump instead of a K-jetronic one, the compression was raised from 9.8 to 10.3 with forged pistonsans the cams had 12.1mm valve lift on intake and 10.5mm on the exhaust. With a road legal exhaust the engine put out about 255hp @ 7,000 but only 188lb/ft of torque. You would be better off with a larger displacement engine, because the lack of torque and peakiness would make the car pretty abominable on the street. Plus, sourcing the proper parts would be a nightmare.
