Changing Flasher

What is the failure mode of the turn signal flasher. My turn signals stopped working, and they don't even statically light up the turn lights. The flashers don't work either.

From my manual, it looks like the flasher is buried behind the left side of the dash, and I need to pry out the instruments to get to it. Is this true?

If both turn signals and emergency flashers don't work...it is most likely the flasher. It is approximately behind your far left gauge when sitting in the car. I find it easiest to reach through the front luggage compartment. It is on the far right (driver's side) behind the fiberboard piece. If you do a search, I have posted in the past how to test this with a multimeter or test light. They are expensive...if you can...borrow a buddies and swap it in to test it before you buy one.
