Rain capturing devices in a Turbo Tail
I would like to know if there are any rain capturing devices that I could use in my Turbo Tail so that the rain would not get into the distributor or spark plug area. A month ago I left my 911 in the rain, and the distributor got wet, and it would not start! Right now, my tail has the wire netting and a "rain tray". The "rain tray" covers half of the engine, and the netting is right under the "ribs" on the tail. Is everyone else's similair or the same? If the 911 ever does stay in the rain, I cover the engine with a tarp.

Where is the "rain tray" in the picture? I see the wire netting, but no kind of rain tray.
(P.S. The painter of that car needs a friendly introduction to this great new product . . . called "masking tape"!) ![]() |

The "rain tray" is not visible from the bottom, although if you look from top down, you will notice that half of the engine lid is covered and looks like a scoop where rain would go when it runs down from the top of the lid. It probably isn't a "rain tray", but part of the engine lid. It looks like it could be a protectant for half of the engine though.

Your motor should be able to get wet and still start. You must have some sort of ign. problem. You should look at your wires and all connections.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think it might be a problem with the coil now that the car is stubborn and will not start. (See "Perma Tune CD box" thread). I'll probably re-seal the distributor though.
It's good to know that the engine can withstand the rain. Thanks for the help ![]() Matt
