Looks like he slid it into a pole!

Damn shame, David

sketchers356 12-09-2004 06:05 AM

Werent we talking about waiting for one of these to crash so that we could use it's engine?

Eric Mckenna 12-09-2004 06:26 AM

David I couldn't agree more.. but ya know at least it was out being driven and ya know IF by chance it was done at the track now.. that is a NOBLE death for any Porsche.. but yeah it's sad.....

Eric

}{arlequin 12-09-2004 07:46 AM

real question is, do I have to upgrade to a Turbo master to use those calipers?

thrown_hammer 12-09-2004 07:47 AM

Died with her boots on....It was an honorable death.....

Cdnone1 12-09-2004 07:56 AM

I can fix it....my Dad's a TV repairman...he's got the ultimate tool set

plain fan 12-09-2004 07:58 AM

What do you bet the insurance company wrote the car off? Better yet, what would it cost to buy it "as is?"

dickster 12-09-2004 08:08 AM

"looks like he power shifted into second........."

:D :D :D

Jgordon 12-09-2004 08:48 AM

Rich, it probably was that. Lots of people were "power-shifting" S2000s back when they came out, and the overwhelming torque of the S2000 flipped them straight off the road.

Shattered composite brake disc is interesting....

svandamme 12-09-2004 08:58 AM

it'll buff out...

mmm 12-09-2004 08:59 AM

At least it got driven.

Eric Mckenna 12-09-2004 09:19 AM

I think the disc are fine yes.. they are broken but many composite materials are designed to take one TYPE of load/stress and nothing else.. I do not thin the rotors we meant to take a side impact..

Eric

asphaltgambler 12-09-2004 09:23 AM

The other three sides look fine. Just have to drive it with the 'bad' side away from public view

cicsprog 12-09-2004 09:28 AM

EBAY and part it out:D

atlporsche 12-09-2004 10:03 AM

it's not totalled...not hardly.

it's designed and built like a race car...just back 1/2 it and forget about it. discard all the broken crap, as long as the tub isn't compromised, it's fine. I bet it runs.

what's funny is the black 911 in the background of the first pic looks like it wet itself upon seeing the damage. (see the big puddle?)

trader220 12-09-2004 10:12 AM

ITs on Ebay with the following..

The seller on Ebay lists this caption:

Salvage Title... theft recovery, only minor damage. This is an easy fix for any who wants a CGT way below market price…. The insurance company just decided to total it even though the damage is really minor. I’ve had several estimates from reputable shops and this should cost no more then 8 to 10 thousand dollars to fix.

Now the good part…. You’re bidding on a very rare Carrera GT. This car runs and drives fantastic. It’s always been garaged and the oils been changed every 3000 miles, and ALWAYS garage kept. Other than some small blood stains the interior is perfect. All parties walked away safe from this small fender bender. All gauges and accessories work perfectly. The ac system could use a charge, that’s common with Carrera’s of this vintage. It also has a 10,000 watt sound system and an additional set of chromed out rims which are also for auction. If you use the “buy is now” feature I’ll throw in the chrome rims.

banjomike 12-09-2004 11:04 AM

Dang those things don't bend they just shatter! Shattered wheel, brakes, body...

I wonder what you could get parting that out?

Craig 930 RS 12-09-2004 11:05 AM

What is the EBay listing number?
Can't find it ---

plain fan 12-09-2004 11:15 AM

There is no way it will cost "just 8 to 10 thousand to fix." The brake disc alone will take a chunk out of that cost. Did anyone else read some inconsistencies in the description?

driven hard and driven often?

ooh do they spin? :D
It almost looks like the guy selling copied some standard lines about 911s and used it for this add. Oh well, if someone had the money it would make a nice project car.

jkarolyi 12-09-2004 11:25 AM

>It also has a 10,000 watt sound system and an additional set of chromed out rims

LOL...I think the eBay ad text is a *joke* guys :) Otherwise that is one pimped out CGT!

Craig 930 RS 12-09-2004 01:13 PM

It has to be a joke. Look on EBay.......not there.

copper 12-09-2004 01:24 PM

Yes, he was kidding.

Using some creative flair and humour...

Pete000 12-09-2004 01:25 PM

Only one place that could fix that and that would be the factory. I bet the roof panel doesn't fit proberly as the thing is covered with a tarp. That chassis is probably distorted now.

strupgolf 12-09-2004 01:37 PM

If you can AFFORD at CGT, then you can afford to get it fixed. At $650,000, what the hell is 8 or 10, 000 more, give me a break. There must be a whole lot more than meets the eye on this fixer-uper.

jkarolyi 12-09-2004 01:45 PM

Who insures these cars? The rates must be absolutely outrageous!

Craig 930 RS 12-09-2004 01:53 PM

I'd bank on close to $100,000 to fix that CGT -

DavidI 12-09-2004 02:04 PM

It makes me wonder.....what parts from it will fit on my SC?

David

Craig 930 RS 12-09-2004 02:09 PM

Tire valve caps?

trader220 12-09-2004 02:18 PM

GUYS IT WAS A JOKE...SORRY IF IT WAS NOT FUNNY!!!...

oh yea ..... the add goes on to say that the owners in the UK and if you send him ten thousand dollars via western union, he'll ship you the car free of charge and let you inspect it for 7 days. Then, if you dont want it he'll give you your 10k back.

Groesbeck Hurricane 12-09-2004 03:01 PM

Actually, I've always gotten a kick out of Trader's humour of sense.

trader220 12-09-2004 03:06 PM

Groesbeck, thank you! Gald to see someone gets my jokes. Ive found this board to be a fantastic diversion from trading.

You should of quit while ahead. The surrounding licence plates are California plates :p . Unless thats the "in thing" in the UK, i'm going to say no :D. But then agian you said "owner". But what "owner" would own a CGT in Cali and live in the UK. That makes no since. It does make me wonder who's car that is... Whats his name who owns the LA Times had his silver CGT at the GAF...

trader220 12-09-2004 03:31 PM

Big D... its even funnier now

BigD, actually it’s even funnier with Cali plates... Since one of the common scams being played not he internet is these clowns from overseas that steal Ebay accounts and run auctions of cars they've copied the pictures of from other sources. In fact people on this BBS have seen their own cars for sale by these scam artists. The scam plays out where they try and get you to send them the 10k and also wiggle a credit card out of you using spoof sites.

So my friend BigD it’s a friggin riot in my book, and it’s funnier that you didn’t pick up on the scam. No hard feelings

At anytime you choose, look at the Ebay motors Harley Davidson's for sale page and there are at least a dozen bikes with "buy it now" prices that are more than 10k below market value.... If you try buying one, you'll get the ..." I'm in the UK (or some other European or African country) and I'll ship you the bike...yadda yadda yadda"

trader220 12-09-2004 03:33 PM

I was spoofing the scam on ebay... get it? Oh never mind ... now I've hijacked this thread and I have to apologize to whom ever started it.

masraum 12-09-2004 03:49 PM

Sigh, that was my CGT. The factory said they would replace everything but the ****ft knob to get it back in top notch shape. I was at an AutoX after having the car for 3 days and hit a cone on a tight slalom.

(apparently I misspelled "shift", thank goodness the thing doesn't have Fuchs)

:D

BigD9146gt 12-09-2004 03:55 PM

Trader, thats one thing i hate about text conversations... sarcasum is hard to pick up on. To that point, i knew you were joking. The ebay thing i wasn't aware of though, I hope those who are frauding people get shot.

masraum, what kind of cones do you use down there in Texas??? Oil well towers?
