I have a lighted Porsche key with the black plastic top with a silver crest on my regular keychain. But for 99% of my 911 driving, I use a cheap steel Audi/Porsche key with no fob at all. The advantage of the single keu is that it doesn't have anything to rattle or flap around on it, and it won't stress the switch.

Anything with Tiffany and Co. on it is always cool, and not chicky at all. I just might have to gets me one.

Probably intimidated...few would admit to being as anal about their cars as we who are fanatic enough to give thought to the key ring used... I would like to give an "Amen" to the suggestion that you NOT hang too much weight on a keyring. I used to carry too many keys on a single ring in my work pickup..store keys, lock keys, safe keys, gate keys, the list went on. The entire mess was at least 25 keys, and weighed too much. One day I found myself in a freeway rest area unable to put the ignition key back in the lock....A nice guy tow truck operator got me going again with no actual tow charges by using a pick that allowed me to slip the key in the ignition. I've paid attention to key chain weight since.

I have had this in my pocket for 40 years. That's right, I picked it up off the ground when I went to work at a Corvette and Jag XKE salvage yard at age 19.

It WILL NOT break and has been polished by use. You know what it is and they're tough.

I love keychains...used to collect them, but not anymore. I've always kept weight of keys in the ignition a minimum, after hearing other people's testimony.

Here's mine (yes...the wheel spins)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1102667512.jpg

one ignition key, and a very lightweight alarm fob. I've worn out ignition locks in the past with the vibrating weight. not going to repeat that mistake on this car!

who needs a key fob when you have a starter button with master switch!?

asphaltgambler 12-10-2004 11:01 AM

A hand-stitched leather key fob from Porsche, with the gold Porsche crest inlaid. Now Buffy, pass me another muffin because I'm late for for my sailboating lessons.

I am also guilty of having a Tiffany keyring. No pics (computer still down) but it looks like an elongated tear drop that's curved into a hoop. I needed something small and simple to hold my motorcycle and its lock keys together. (You really don't want much flapping around a bike ignition) Once the bike was stolen it's the only thing that I have left of it :(

Now for the same reason it holds the P-car key and the key to the quick release.

It's silver so it gets beat up, scratched, and dull rather quickly, which makes it look even less "chicky"

I'd like to have no key ring!

I've been driving a few Cadilllac XLR's and Lexi....at work, no choice;) All you need is the remote fob in your pocket. Walk up to the car, doors are automatically unlocked. Get in and push the start button and off you go. Hit the start button to shut off. Walk away from car and car locks.

I can't wait for this to come to the aftermarket.
