solid core might work. powder coat doesn't really look right IMNSHO.

Don - check out the yellow Gamroth car in Excl. a year or two ago. The cite is on the Lightwt. web page of Thom's -- look in my comparison file of Lightwt. cars, under "other cars of note" or something like that.

Nothing in the groove and I guarantee those heavy mothers ain't going anywhere. I have a black car so it just blends in. I thought they looked 70ish anyway. Just my opinion, I could be wrong

......Or, you can install the windshield AND rubber trim from a 964 and be done with it. I used the 993 1/4 window gaskets on my car and dumped the metal trim pieces. Looks really clean.

If you do the front that way, you would want to do the rear the same. Is the rear glass from a 964 coupe the same as earlier cars?

BB80SC, please post some close up pics.

Others, searches here found references to differences between the 964 and 911 windshields, so I do not think the 964, trimless gasket can be used with the older windshield.

Here are some pics of my chromeless front window. Had a crack in the windshield that pissed the DMV off so I had to replace the windshield. When I had that done the window guy didnt replace the trim because the seal was pretty rotted out and the trim would not go into the notch. I am planning on changing to have that seal replaced and the trim reinstalled, although the "black look" did cross my mind. I have driven in the rain and broke hard with no problems.

I think I have an extra piece of trim around, I think I will anodize it matte black and see how that looks. It may take a few weeks, my project list is kinda tight right now. I'll post pics when I get it finished.

i just had this conversation about the 964 seal used for an early 911. talked to a guy with an SC who was commenting on my trimless window. he mentioned that he had used a 964 seal for his car and it leaked because the depth (thickness) of the windshield is not the same as the windshield of an early 911. my car has the regular seal - no leaks.

You can go to your local upholstery shop and buy a solid plastic filler for next to nothing . They use it for making the beading in seats . Thats what I used on mine .

Yea..........still,,why bother if there exist no problems,,,,,I do not have any trim in the back window either. From my view untill a window tries to exit or leak I am not adding a once to it,,and thats the other thing,,a lexan window..................................

Can somebody translate that? The Google auto-translator (translate this page) couldn't make any sense out of it.

Has anyone tried or know one who has tried the flush-mount kit from Getty Design? They have a $299 kit which flush-mounts the windshield, and all 3 rear windows. I just bought a NOS windshield for my 78SC, and I'm dreading the job, particularly after replacing a side window seal.

Henry at Supertec listed a bad-to-the-bone RSR in the Classifieds. The flush-mounted windows look so sharp.
take care, Jürgen
