Stupid owner tricks
yesterday i was doin a bunch O' things to the 911 in prep for today's run, one was to replace a leaking driver's side cam oil ine.
Of course as soon as i got it loose and was pulling it out, one of the aluminium sealing washers fell off and never hit the ground. That's when I remembered that I should stuff a rag in the turbo to keep stuff from falling in it. Duh. I tried a mirror, flexible claw, etc no luck. I eneded up pulling the turbo, muffler, and exhaust piping off and turning the turbo upside down, nothing. I said to myself: self, maybe it didn't go in there. Nope, too much of a gamble. i put everything back together except the turbo piping, instead I put the stock factory CIS rubber boot on that goes from the air flow sensor to the throttle body. After i got it running and the timing set, i revved it up real good and held my hand over the discharge of the turbo. Vrrrom, Vrrroooooooom, bingo. The washer came flying out and I caught it in my hand ![]() Turned a simple 1/2 hour job into 3, but at least i didn't break nothin ![]() |

Just an FYI...
I'm pretty sure those washers are not aluminum.....A magnet would catch them.
