Broken Mirror.....HELP!!!

I have no clue how it got like this. It just happened all of a sudden. The entire mirror just lost its footing on its base a now it just swivles around freely. It seems that there is a treaded part that it connects to but i cant seem to get it on. Well anyway here are some pics to show you.

It looks to me like the internal spring thing went SPROING and the whole thing popped off. Those things are hard to compress. Vitually impossible while the harness is still attached to the car. You will need to unplug this thing and take it off to get that back in there.

If you take out the bolt out of the base that has the spring around it, there are two plastic bushings on each end. If you remove these bushings, it allows enough of the bolt thread to stick out to re-mount the mirror to the base. Yes, you now have metal to metal contact, but how often do you turn these mirrors? I did this myself and have had no problems.
It's almost impossible to remount the mirror if it had come off like yours. I say almost since someone may have done it. I couldn't.

A wide blade screw driver and a lot of care should be used to pry the mirror out. The mirror is held in place by three push pin that goes into a three plastic holder.

You will need to get a special tool to remove the wires from the plug.

I will post a picture of the mirror later when I get back home. I posted a picture of the special tool on this board before. Do a search for replacing mirror.

Ok I have the mirror off. That tool you were talking about, I cant find it anywhere in that size. Its a molex removal tool. I have one at .93" and it is just so slightly too big. Where can I get a SLIGHTY smaller one.

Go to a hobby shop and buy a brass tube with the inside dia the same size as the pins in the connector. Also buy a solid steel rod that can be slid into the brass tube (the outside dia meter of the rod should match the inside diameter of the brass tube. You just push the brass tube over the pin and afterward, push the steel rod into the brass tube. It should push the pin and wire out of the connector.
