Anyone in So-Cal have a original Porsche IROC?

Would like to know the spec's if possible, and maybe see some pictures.

(I am concidering doing a clone)

sammyg2 12-17-2004 02:06 PM

My brother used to have an IROC. I hated it but I was never really into Camaros anyway ;)

bigrubberjeep 12-17-2004 02:30 PM

Sammy - Porsche IROC's!

ubiquity0 12-17-2004 02:48 PM

There were only 15 of them, so you're unlikely to see one.

Some interesting info:

True! Maybe an identical clone!

The Bright Yellow car lives in Santa Fe.

I saw the bright yellow one at Laguna Seca a couple years ago. Nice looking car.

The cars were very similar to the rs 3.0. They left the factory with ducktails but were raced with the whale tail. The motors were RSR spec high butterfly MFI twin plug 3.0 liter - about 315 hp. The brakes were 917 style (like 930 turbo with larger cooling fins but no logos. Aluminum rack support, plastic 100 liter gas tank, 908 -RSR behr nose mounted oil cooler (using a special diverter panel that we sell) , trans cooler lines to a trombone like loop in the left fender, dual master brake girling cylinders with adjustable bias bar, reinforced chassis here and there, lightweight glass, fiberglass front and back bumpers (yep- we sell those too), STEEL front and rear flares - similar but not the same as 930 turbo, no undercoating, RSR roll bar with penske added harness bar (which we also replicate), RSR steel rear control arms (same geometry as 930 turbo) , RSR adjustable sway bars front and rear, radio, glovebox door, and clock delete Rims: 9 / 11 x 15 fuchs alloys with goodyear race tires AND a nice note on the dash informing drivers to fully depress the clutch pedal to shift right next to a shift pattern layout

Sounds like a nice project does it not? Would you agree that this may be the closest project as far as era correct? Not to mention I am probably 50% of the way there with what I have now. (I know my engine is not 305Hp but at least it's reliable for everyday driving)

Here's the decal in an earlier car. It makes for about the coolest radio-delete I've seen.

If I were you I would not start stripping your car apart for an IROC-look deal. Too nice as it is.

das908kind 12-17-2004 04:28 PM

Did the IROC feature the imfamous 915 box? How does the competition version compare to the slopy street version?

TRE Cup 12-17-2004 04:32 PM

it was the same magnesium box, but with 80% ltd slip, different gear ratios, and the rsr oil spray bar and pump set up

funy1guy 12-17-2004 04:55 PM

I am looking a 6 pictures I took at the 1974 LA Auto show of Denny Hulmes green IROC Porsche. The pics were taken before the race so the car is virtually brand new. The rear wheels look like there 12" and the fronts 10" really wild looking. If I can scan these I will post them. Great pics of George Follmers!!

Saw this in NoVA a few months ago.

Zeke 12-17-2004 06:53 PM

How about all 15?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1086238088.jpg

(OK, so there's only 11 of them.)

RSupdate 12-17-2004 08:36 PM

You said you might be intereted in doing an IROC clone.... well, if that's the case here's an almost perfectly executed example, complete with 3.0L slide valve monster power....http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1103348193.jpg

RSupdate 12-17-2004 08:38 PM

...another view for your enjoyment.....
