Howard, I'm not a fan of Cherner. I would recommend that you post a want ad on the PCA Potomac website. Are you a PCA member? If not, let me know if you'd like me to post and ad for you. Feel free to send me PM or email.

thanks Eric, I've had my eye on the blue '87 with 81k but it will have to wait until after the holiday. The red '86 with 30k look promising.

Jim, my co-worker is a Potomac PCA member and he let me place an WTB ad. I got two responses so far and both were something like this:

I have a 1983 911 with only 31,000 miles. It is in mint condition and I am asking $28,000. SmileWavy

I dunno Z. A thorough PPI takes a couple of hours and here in the SF area that's about $200.

SoCal - what do my shoes have to do with my car??? I'm usually wearing beat up old adidas..

Plymoth - here's the trick for long distance....ask the owner if you can call his mechanic and get the low down on the car. If he balks, keep looking, if he gives some excuse, keep looking, if he says he does all the work himself, ask him to fax you all the receipts for oil, parts, etc. to give you an indication of the serivce length/history he goes by. If he declines, keep looking.

I looked at @ 20 cars before I found mine (locally) and the owner (without provocation) drove me to his mechanic so I could ask him directly how the car was.

Good hunting and merry christmas/happy hanoukka

Howard, check your PM. Something I just saw that might interest you (or not). :)
