Fuchs on a Speedster

Do any 356 Speedster owner's have Fuch's wheels on their cars? If so, what would be the correct size?? Thanks!

I believe 15X6, But you have to update the brakes to Disc from 64-65 356.

why not ask on Pelican's 356 technical forum? Or do a search there.

Because nobody in there answers questions.
Because there is virtually no participation in those forums.
Because he got the correct answers he needed here in the 911 Tech. Forum.

PS: Can you tell I'm bitter about the 356 forum?

On a lighter note, most knowledgeable 356 guys are much nicer/helpful when approached on the phone or in person.

4 sizes of Fuchs will fit.....since the speedsters are all hand built, you "may" have a problem with the 6 x 15 to fit, and that size may have a problem with the upper bump stop on the shock, and you also have to be carefull of the lower shock mount scraping the wheel weights as well.

The 4 sizes....4.5 x 15 (but limited for rubber size), 5.5 x 15 (1968 production only), 6 x 15, and 14 x 6. The early deep 6 x 15's look best (on speedster above). The last option is the cheapest, and also looks great on the car...that's the 14 x 6 Fuchs....came on 914/6's, early 911's with the comfort group (stock on the 911E), and also on the 912E's. Tire size can be an issue on this, but I know Gary Emory at Parts Obsolete loves to run these wheels on some of his hotrod speedsters....and with the right size rubber, gives a nice low end boost due to the shorter tire/wheel combination.

My personal preference is the 5.5 x 15, but they are spendy!

regards.
Eric

Thanks all!! Great pics and feedback!! I plan on building a 57' replica and want it to have the fuchs's. Also, I would probably go with the tube frame (ala Beck) for some reason every replica I see has the rear end to high and the front wheels set back about 3"?? The Beck's appear to be fairly accurate. This will be a triple black to go with my 89' Speedster. Thanks!!! Murf

Ah, that's because their computer skills match the technological state of their cars....

I drive a back-dated '74 – that's the equivalent of computing with a Sinclair or a Commodore these days.

For work I use a G4 Mac - that's a 993 in Porsche terms.

Someday I'll upgrade to a 996 or 997 (by that I mean a Mac G5...).

I have a set of 4 14x5.5 if interested, could use some new paint but overall good good wheels let me know

Not to be pushy but with such a small car Im not sure the bigger wheels would look good on it

You can find good tires for 14" wheels, just check with a miata owner. There are a few sticky high-perf 14" tires out there, Falken Azenis Sports (really sticky dry tires), Toyo Proxes T1S, good sticky all around street, and a couple of others.

My above mentioned 14x5.5 are off of a 912e, they never came with 14x6, as per 912registry and my measurements. Just a lil clarification there

not an issue in this application, but the '54 -'55 cars will have a tougher time fitting 6's @ the rear.
Doc;
is that Meissen Blau ? that's the original color of 84102.
nice work!
cheers

If you're looking for a tube-frame, you've got to check out Intermeccanica (http://www.intermeccanica.com). Very nice quality.
