Accidently Found a Way to Avoid Emissions Testing
Personally, I drive with my cat conv. still on, but yesterday I accidentally found a way to bypass emissions testing (at least for one 2 year period).
Someone stole a license plate off my daily driver truck. So I went to DMV to get a new one. Since I've been wanting to get a specialty plate (Crater Lake) for my Porsche, I inquired about transferring the plates on my Porsche to the truck and getting new plates for the Porsche. It was no problem. ...and the plates for my Porsche came with new December stickers. No emissions testing for 2 more years! Of course, if I'd been trying to pull this off, they would have had a guy in back with coveralls and a flashlight ready to crawl under my car.

The other piece is that you can renew your Oregon plates while living out of state as long as you promise to run it through DEQ the minute you get back. I have Oregon plates on my BMW, four years later, and they just sent me another renewal notice.
