This is on the verge of ridiculous...
look at this car on ebay
Look at the price list--a few notables are the "upgraded wheels" for $1810 that are the same size and material as the regular ones (!) and the $880 for the HANDBRAKE LEVER AND SHIFT KNOB. I'll take ten! No wonder they can take $4k off to make it "ONLY $144085". Crazy world. almost makes this look like a good deal: |

Why are they calling it a 2005 when it is clearly a 996?

I wouldn't kick it out of the garage for dropping a little oil every now and then. Of course I'd never pay that much. For that kind of money I'd rather have 9 more spare cars like I already own.........

Only the Base Model and Carrara S are called 997's for 2005.
C4s GT3's Turbos Cabs are all 2005 996's. The 997 versions of those cars are expected next year. As for the crazy prices for the options, this is nothing new to those that have owned Porsches and this is how Porsche is one of the most Profitable automakers based on profit per car in the world. The base model of any Porsche has less standard features than a 25K toyota Camry. Some of my favorites are the 400 bucks they nail for on the sport chrono package in the 997. 80 bucks for a compass display in the Cayenne, back in the day leather was an option as vynal was standard and now if you want those rear seats in leather, cough up some cash, hifi radio more cash, A limited slip diff more money. The option list for Porsche has been and always will be sick. This is why it is always best to buy your porsche used. Go the Porsche website, it's possible to make a base model boxter more expensive than a 996 or 997. It's possible to make a 996/997 more expensive than a GT3 or a Turbo coupe. By the way, note that the Turbo cab is a Tubro S cab. I bet not to many of these floating around. I may be wrong though.

Yeah, I know the options have been expensive, but I guess I only recently noticed what they are actually charging you for. People here go crazy when the hood badges hit $5xx or 6xx but really, Porsche sells TONS of fake wood shift knobs for $440 each, and it's not like they are hard to get or rare!
And, on there not being many... of the 911S's and stuff there are few, those are truly limited. Turbo S cabs, I bet they'll make at least a few thousand this year alone...and all of them will be like new in twenty years... |

For that money, you could get 993 twin turbo, a beck spyder replica, and a 914-6 track car.
In fact, damnit, if I just had 144k, I'd do that right now. RIGHT NOW.
