where to purchase small ac condensor?

I am reworking the AC system in my 83 SC,I have removed the rear condensor on the engine lid and do not plan on reinstalling it.I am adding a under belly unit,I am retaining the front condensor unit but would like to add a small(12 x 12 or so) unit to the rear wheel well with a fan.I have looked at various websites and can't seem to fine a small parralel flow condensor that will fit,any ideas where I can find a unit aprox. this size?In my internet searches I did find that a Acura NSX has 2 condensors( 1 mounted on each side) that are aprox. this size, has anyone ever used one of these in a Porsche?Any ideas or comments welcome.

You can use a oil cooler coil. It will work the same way and is a lot cheaper.

Thanks Steve but the price doesn't seem to be an issue it's finding the correct size.I went to ACKits.com and they have parralel flow condensors listed for about $70.00 but the smallest is about 12 x 20 and thats a little bit too big to fit in the rear wheelwell,if they had one closer to 12 x 12 I would think it would be about the same price.

Check this THREAD. You might want to contact brcorp here on the board and ask where he got his.

Good luck.

Scottb thanks for the thread, when I did a search I did not come up with that link, very helpful.Unfortunately now I'm thinking of putting one in the front wheelwell instead of the rear.I'll keep everyone posted.

From what I understand there is a patent on the Paralell flow condensor and one Japanese firm makes the units. Therefore what you see at ACKits is what's available on the market.

This was what I uncovered about 6 months ago when researching the product.

I put one in my front left fender, and it works great. I bought a kit from www.iceac.com. It wasn't quite turnkey, but it fit nicely. There's a picture of it in the thread I posted above.

Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress.
