German Autofest 09 - who's in?
Official website The Ventura Show - Porsche, German and European Auto Fest, Ventura CA: October 3-4, 2009
That's this coming Saturday and Sunday. A video to get you warmed up. This one features our own TRE Cup, in the black 914-6 This should be a great weekend. Lots of cars, a Sunday swap meet, vendor displays, for sale corral, featured speakers, mobilia and literature show, concourse, and people’s choice award. Elephant Racing will be in the vendor section along with Von Shocks, we will have some very cool new stuff to see. We’ll be doing live shock dyno testing demos, showing some new products. Stop by, say hello. Plus I plan to give live updates of the event on www.twitter.com/ElephantRacing sign up if you want to keep track. Who else is in?

Pelican will not be there. Pelican is a proud sponsor of the Special Olympics Pier Del Sol fund raiser / celebration on the Santa Monica Pier (http://www.pierdelsol.org/) and it's a fantastically fun time (and unfortunately on that same day - Sunday). We committed to this prior to the announcement of the fact that the Ventura show was moving to October.

Wayne sorry to hear that no one contacted you. Pelican Parts will be missed.
World Class Motoring finalized the purchase of the show about 3 weeks before the event last year so they had little time to pitch both vendors and attendees. And the previous owner had let the word out that the show would not be held. I am surprised the show was as well attended as it was with all the rumors of the show's demise. We exhibited last year and did very well. I feel that World Class Motoring has worked hard this year to put on a good show. We are not really a part of their crew, but we have helped them in many ways to bring back the Porsche crowd. The Ventura show is a great potential opportunity for the Porsche community. I think anyone who does not exhibit or attend because they did not like the size of the crowd last year should give World Class Motoring the benefit of the doubt. I know they have spent a lot of time and money in this very difficult year to build the show and make the show better than ever. It is my understanding that vendor space sales are at an all time high. I like Pelican Parts as a customer. I love your forums, they have been terrifically helpful to me. I love your books they too have been a godsend. I admire your use of the internet and the quality of service you give to your customers. With your leadership, it appears that Pelican Parts really has it together. I don't want to tell you how to run your business, you are doing a great job at it, but I am very sad to hear that Pelican Parts will not be at the VENTURA SHOW / German Autofest. You will be missed. Your customers will miss you. Dick Lague

Here is another promo from WORLD CLASS MOTORING for the Ventura show. We will have a trailer for our upcoming Monterey 2009 film at our IGNITON3 booth at the show. We are planning on a really big screen and good audio to show the trailer and some other great video. We will also have many motorsport DVDs from the Duke Video collection.

I'm sorry that Pelican can't make it...but Wayne, could you please make a sticky to inform others of the show as you do with the other meets? Though the organizers of the event are a bit disorganized (oxymoron?), at least they are putting an effort into an awesome meet that was scheduled to die last year. I'm hoping that some more publicity this year will increase turnout.
Thanks, |

Inside Parking Cost
If you want to park your Porsche in the event area as opposed to ourside general parking is there a charge above the $12 for entry on Saturday?

My understanding is there is only 1 parking fee this year- they have coordinated better with the Fairgrounds. To park your Porsche in the event parking area, it will be just the admission cost, I think. Contact World Class Motoring on the website to confirm.

Thanks. Question is if we can just leave as opposed to having non competing or display cars also having to stay in until 6 PM.

Anyone can leave anytime they want. Saturday Oct 3rd People's Choice Car Show Day (Street Legal Road Warriors) Street legal road warriors, could be half the guys on this forum. ![]() I had a nice talk with the promoters recently and they are aware that there are a couple late afternoon options. They are considering completing the peoples choice car show around 3pm to 4pm. (I think they want to go to the Early S reception party too) ![]() The 356 guys have near 40 cars entered. Hope to see more Pelicans at the GAF. Should be the 1st event for my rebodied RSR. ![]() ![]() |
