914's dominated the early 70's not only with the finishes in LeMan's but also won the IMSA championship.

I read somewhere that Porsche does not offer a limited slip diff in the Cayman S as they know that it would be a quicker car around a track than the Carrera S if it were so equipped. They offer the LSD on the Boxster S, BTW. I don't understand why the 911 must be the fastest production Porsche... people buy the 911 because it's a 911, not because it's a 10th quicker around the 'Ring than a Cayman/Boxster.

I haven't had a 911 beat me at an a/x in years.

Supe, you might want to call Brumos Porsche and ask Hurly Haywood about the 914s not beating 911s:p

I have driven 914s, 911s & 914-6s on the track and of the fully track prepared, I have had the most fun in a friends 3.8 914-6GT clone bar none.

Yes, 914's can be made to go fast. One of the fastest cars in the SE is a 914-6 Turbo car driven by Andy M. Wicked car, but over $400K in the beast.

To be fare, Andy's care is closer to a 917 than a 914, but the fact that he not only smokes some of the newest factory Porsche race cars, but I have seen him lap the field at RRR very quickly.
