Question How do I know if front bumper shock is compressed

I have a 1976 911 project. I'm not sure if the front bumper shocks have been compressed (used). How do I know? I bought car dismantled and there is no visible damage on front bumper.

Thanks
Dan

Sorry to reply without an answer, but I have the same problem with the rears. I got rear-ended some time ago. Some body shops say they reset themselve, and some say it MUST be replaced.
