Front suspension upgrade???

Hello all, I have a '71 911 T Targa that is in need. I was wondering if any knows if 930 front suspension parts will work in it without much effort. Thanks.

Seeing no one else is...I'll jump-in, but am also asking for help and confirmation.

930 suspension is nothing more than 911 suspension, but with different hubs/brakes and such. The pivot points *should* attach to the body in the same way and at the same locations...

If the 930 brakes ( two styles, early up to 79 or 80 and later 80-81+) are used, you now have issues with too small brakes for the rear....

Now all the peripherals matter....

I think that is right as far as the front goes, but not the rear. You'd better be sure tho.... Why not get the parts CD and check all the p/n's? Pelican is BO'd on them - 2 weeks out.

It sort of depends on the year of the 930,

Some issues would be;
1) sway bar mounts, eary 930 used thru the body which is what a '71 911 will want starting in '78 they went to the underbody style, which can be used on an early car if the body mounts are installed.

2)hubs will be compatible thu '80 930, later 930s used the high o/s hubs

3) brakes your '71 has m calipers w/ 3" ears all the 930s use 3.5" ears so you will need to use aA or S or 930 calipers.

In general though a 930 strut is just a 911 strut w/ h/d Bilstein dampers std.

Let me clarify better...

After reading what I posted, I discovered not clear enough. Try this...

I am thinking of using the origanal cross member and controls arms but putting 1978 930 strut assemblies on it. Will the existing origanal control arms mount to the 930 struts (different ball joint maybe??) without too much pain??

The ball joint was changed from '69 -71 used 1 and '72 on used another, I don't think that they are compatible

Why not use the entire '78 930 front suspension? W/ the exception of the sway bar it is an easy swap. The early sway bar can be used if the control arm tabs are added.

I would love the entire 930 under the front...
but of course I have the limited budget issue and the current Struts are HOSED (bent (previous owner wrecked) and abused for a while) so I need new struts anyway and thought the 930 might work.

But it is starting to sound like it might not work.
