Does the RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" have A/C and back seat?

I've got a friend - a hard core Porsche nut - who is in the market for a new Porsche. He's got three young children, so it has to have the rear seats...

He wants a powerful RWD Porsche that is "fun" to drive. He's looking at modified 930's and RUF turbos... and now wondering about the original CTR.

Assuming he can find one, did it come with A/C? Did they have all the seats, or were the rears removed?

I think the rear seats were removed and a parcel shelf put in not to mention a roll bar which is dangerous to have with little ones in the back seat area.

His best bets would probably be either a really nice 928 or a 944 turbo and some money for mods. Both are going to be fast, fun, and rear wheel drive. As a matter of fact, unless he gets an all wheel drive model the only kind of porsche that he will end up with is rear wheel drive.

I just found out about the roll cage. That will be a deal breaker. (It would have been cool to have a friend with a Yellow Bird!)

I think he's going to get a late-80's RUF 930. He's found a beautiful triple-black example with only about 18K on the clock.

P.S. - He'd never do the 928 or 944. He's owned several 911's, including an incredible '80 SC with tons of upgrades and a real nice '96 993. He loves the 911.

Worth remebering that Ruf had an integrated roll cage that hardly intrudes into the cabin at all. At first glance, you would think that there is no roll cage at all. I have only seen relatively new Ruf cars with cages but it is well worth inspecting before righting it off.

This is a little redundant, all CTRs were presumably "G50 equipped". They were built on 1987-88 911 cars.

That's not a real CTR - it's a nice RUF conversion on a 930 (CTR is narrowbody, that is a Turbo body).

It's a very nice car, and it's the one he's been looking at.

Real CTR's are nearly impossible to find, and they are $100K+

Don't remember anything about A/C, just one of the younger guys at the rollout going: "mit radio!"

I am learning more each day.

Apparently, some of the RUF CTR (Yellow Bird) Porsche's do have A/C. They are also not all yellow (darn).

The car Richard Sloan has is a Ruf BTR (Group B Single Turbo). This model has a turbocharged 3.4 litre, 374HP and a five speed transmission.

The BTR was available in either narrow or wide body configurations, narrow body being the recommended choice by Ruf purely from an aerodynamic and weight-saving standpoint. The car was very quick even by today's standards with performance figures that outperformed virtually any other production supercar with a 0 to 100km/h time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 183 mph.

There's no doubt the Yellowbird was the cats aS$ back in it's day, and could still whoop as$ on many more modern cars.
