How rare is this option ?
Hi I just recently purchased this 1970 911 T non-sunroof coupe and I have been told the foglight configuration is rare (and they are origional to the best of my knowledge) does this add any special value to this car ? what other options aside from model *ie: T , S or E make a car more valuable than another ? thanks in advance for your comments

Congratulations on your purchase. That is a highly desirable car and color.
The through-the-grille-foglight is a very desirable option. Judging from my personal experience, probably around 5% of Ts have it, maybe 7-8% of Es and Ss. That's just a guess. They selection of this option was less common on US cars, more common on Euro delivery cars. It's not uncommon for them to have disappeared from the cars at some point due to accidents, scavengine or esthetic decisions. I've owned a couple of cars that had only the factory brackets on the battery boxes -- everything else had disappeared.

Thanks for your reply ! I havent ever seen them on any other 911 I've looked at , but I recently saw some NOS OEM horn grilles with the holes for them sell for an vulgar amount on Ebay and that got my wheels turning . A little background about the Car I bought it this fall *a real little ole lady had it in a barn for 25 years type story* and as soon as the guy told me his price I couldnt get the money out of my hands fast enough. I kept thinking at any moment I was going to be greeted by someone saying I was on some undercover funniest video show and here's your 100.00 for being a good sport. The PO had purchased the car as a project and the motor was in about half a dozen milk crates and the case was not split and wasnt seized in fact it turned very freely. he told me "I'll sell it to you but you have to take every Porsche part that I have" and that included an extra front end about 3 wiring harnesses extra interior parts half a trailor load of Porsche stuff ! Im currently having the motor rebuilt from the ground up *still in sticker shock over that one* and it should be reassembled and running inside a few more weeks ! after I got it home and really researched what these early non-sunroof coupes are going for I am overjoyed at my once in a lifetime find ! are you ready for this ? I paid 1200.00 for the car all the extra parts, motor an extra transmission and other stuff to numerous to list it took myself and a friend over 2 hours to load everything in the back of the pickup and car hauler ! and the exterior of this car is perfect ! new door and window seals , new tires on 15 inch alloys ! the list goes on . Turns out he was moving and wasnt going to have the garage space to keep it any longer ! Im just glad that I was the first person to look at this beautiful green nearly flawless 1970 T before anyone else. 100% dumb luck nothing more !

Nice find! That color is probably the most sought after along with signal orange. The fog lights are a cool touch as well. The grilles behind the fog lamps and your turn signals should be chrome and not black, which is odd.
Rare/desirable options available on T, E, or S are the factory sport seats (which have bolsters instead of the flat stock seats), plastic RS gas tank, S front spoiler/bumper and trim (yours is a non-S), rear window wiper, etc. These cars were available with all kinds of configurations...that's what makes the early 911s so cool! >I paid 1200.00 for the car all the extra parts
Daaaaaammmmnn!!!! Right place right time...Lucky you! Makes that engine rebuild bill easier to swallow, eh? We definitely need more pics when you get a chance. You need to rename this thread "Best deal ever!" and you'd get a lot more people looking at it.

You did very well to say the least. You could sell the wheels and the hood badge for more than you paid for everything. One of those original hood badges recently sold for $611.00 on Egad recently.

Just allow me to say...
You suck! ![]() Just kidding, just jealous, it looks great, and you got an amazing deal, something right out of the 70's. You'll have to stick around and regale us with stories of your experiences with her.

I personally think the through the horn grill foglights are very attractive but they are not as rare as the hood mounted rally lights.
Beautiful car and it sounds like you got the deal of a century!

Good job indeed! The car looks to be Conda Green, is it paint code 2626? Look on the small metal tag on the driver's side door jam.
Here's a couple of photos of one of my favorite cars. A good friend's Irish Green '70S with the same lights you have on your car. Welcome to the realm of Early 911 ownership.

Thanks for your replys , I am going to my mechanic's tomorrow and I will bring my camera along for some more pic's to post ! jkarolyi I noticed the color change on the horn grill also ! is there any chance they were all supposed to be black ? ( I have seen cars with the black window trim and engine grill's etc.... but was this only available on later cars ?) guess I'll have to fork out about 120.00 for a certificate of Authenticity from Porsche (is that money well spent ?) also can anyone give me even an approximate value on this car ? and lastly those hood mounted ralley lights are AWESOME great picture's
Regards

On the 2.2L cars all the trim would be bright. That includes the horn grills, outside mirror, window trim, windshield washer nozzles, headlight trim ring, and engine grill. The PORSCHE lettering and 911T emblem on the lid are usually silver also but could be ordered in gold.
We need a few photos to help with value, but safe to say it more than $1200.

Your grills probably got pitted over the years and so they got refinished in black. The only other possibility is that someone took some later black ones and cut them but I think the former is more probable.
