Mystery hose - Where does it connect?
When I did my heater back date on my '86 I found a braided hose laying on my right side engine tin. I traced the line back and found that it attaches to the back off my throttle body. What does the other end connect to? It looks like a small piece of plastic is broken off in the inside of the hose. What's this line for??

It could be to your ambinet air valve. Do you have a picture of the right side of your engine bay?

I'll take a picture tomorrow. Looks like that could be the culprit. In the picture, which line would be the one that leads back to the throttle body? The one without all the clamps and misc. connections??
Thanks

This is around a 1/2" vaccume line, there also might be a 3/8" line from the red round ambiant air valve to the thermo valve on the back side of the trottle body |

It's the 3/8" line that connects to the thermo valve on the back side of the throttle body that is not connected. I'm hoping the little black piece thats stuck in the line isn't from the ambient air valve. If so, looks like I'll be buying a new one.
While on the topic, do you need to have this connected for the engine to run normal?

my ambient air valve has a fitting on top center, i dont see that on the pics, look at the top of valve, see if there is a hole up there. if so that might be the place to conect line the other end goes to the thermo valve. that should have a small v shaped line on one fitting going to the trottle body and the other fitting goes over to ambient air valve, the other side of ambient vale lines go to the oil filler neck. at least thats how mine is set up. vaccume lines very important for idle, cant have any leaks or you will idle rough.
