Sagging rear bumper on early 911 ?
While my car is on a truck crossing the country, I am making a list of parts and bits I need to make it right. Once thing I noticed (how perceptive of me) is that the rear bumper is sagging on one side... I had a long look at the car when it was in the shop and there was no trace of accident or rust back there... So I am thinking fitting...
Anybody knows how those rear bumpers are attached ? Can it be something loose or is that a typical problem that requires welding something? The car is a 73.5 and if you push the bumper down, a 0.5 inch gap opens under the passenger side tail light.... See picture on right side: ![]() Thanks for any info !!! I think I have the rest of the "issues" under control (parts coming), except I need to find a place to make a copy of my one and only door/ignition key in Tampa or surrounding area ! |

Get a body parts diagram. Put in missing bolts.

it just bolts up. It's been a while since I've had one off but I think you have to remove the bumperette first, then the deco strip. It might be flexing because something came loose on the support bar for the bumper. If you look underneath there should be a bar bent at a 90 degree angle supporting the bottom of the bumper. It just bolts up to the frame on one end and the bumper on the other, I'd guess that this is where your problem lies. It the bar is bent you can heat it up at the bend and straighten it out with no problem.
