Beadblasted Tranny and Banana Arms

I got my transmission and rear control arms bead blasted to clean them up and make them look nice...and they look great. This is a mag case transmission so I soaked it with WD-40 after the blasting to give it a nice look once the oxidation starts. All I need to do now is get all of the other parts together and taken to be powdercoated.

It is first aluminum oxide blasted and then blasted with glass beads.

What is the thread that you are talking about?

I hope the transmission was "perfectly" sealed prior to blasting and then very carefully "rinsed" with clean compressed air followed by sealings removal such that any media attached to the sealings fell down and out of transmission. Blast media under pressure is "very searching" and will get into and through amazingly small openings and places. Needless to say said inorganic blast media is very hard on the internal workings of the transmission. Good luck, Jim

How much does it cost to blast "stuff". I've never had anything done before so I have no frame of reference...

Can anybody recommend anybody in the Cincinnati/Dayton area???

The stuff looks GREAT!

The transmission was completely sealed up beforeb blasting. I will go through with solvent and compressed air before rebuilding to ensure it is completely clean.

It will now be rebuilt with WEVO goodies and upgraded parts for strenght.

The WD-40 on the mag will give the case a nice uniform look once the oxidiation starts in.

The stuff looks GREAT!

The transmission was $60 to blast...worth it in my opinion.

"What is the thread that you are talking about?"

- Search for transmission + Grady Clay + my name and you'll find several. It would be nice to compile them all for the various trans. types.

- I can see that I wasted many hours cleaning my arms in a solvent tank when I could have rolled off 3 Andy Jacksons instead....

Could that be clear powder coated now or would that affects the tranny's ability to dissipate heat? I can't imagine it's going to stay looking like that very long
