My 88 carrera is suffering from loads of understeer when turning right, its fine when turning left. I've noticed that the camber on the left front wheel has more negative camber than the right, i've checked underneath, all looks fine, any idea why it might be like that??
excellent forum, your help is appreciated Jay |

1st -- Have you checked your tire pressures and made sure that they are all correct.
Then; have you ever had the car aligned before?

Could be a bad alignment or a bent strut spindle.

Banned but not out, yet..

after everything is checked out to be in good shape, have it aligned and corner balanced - should make a TON of difference.

I'm going to go with the bent strut spindle. It's a single weld that holds it together and a point of failure (not signficant - just bent) on these. Sliding it into a curb could be the culprit. I had mine bent back and rewelded all the way round. Not the best solution I know but it's not a track car and I'm poor.

i have been chasing the same (is yours lhd?). the camber difference is the wrong way round to cause it. i have finally booked in to have some work and alignment/corner balance done - hopefully this will finally find the cure.

Also, check all of the rubber bushings in the front of the car. When they get old, which they undoubtedly are they sag and change things for the worse.
