Question of leakdown

Gentlemen,
I am considering an 87 911 with the 3.2L motor, with 75K miles. What would be considered good leakdown #'s during the PPI?
Thanks again for the sharing of your knowledge.
Paul

Fom 1 to 8 or 9 is ok. Stay away from anything 10+.

Basically the lower the better. You also want to have no more than 10% variation between the numbers, if you do, again walk away.

plenty of info in "search". It's more complicated on our cars than Detroit iron imo.

Am I correct in assuming that in Plymouthcolt's response, the numbers are expressed in percentages?

Yes. That's the only way I've seen them expressed.

Hey Paul.

Don't start a new "subject" on the same, pretty please.

just trying to give you a heads-up. Sometimes it becomes difficult banging back and forth between 2 similar subjects for the same guy. I've seen it happen a few times when the replies exceed 5 on each. By that time there's 2or3 guys jumping on you.

When I suggested search it was because there was many various comments concerning piston to barrel design, top ring vs bottom ring, etc. More info for you than what I could have provided..
