Because he's a Yankee Colonist! ;)

Nice car. There are other wheels besides Fuchs. :D

I looked around Google Images for a FEW HUNDRED PICS and saw only this one to support that those are indeed Boxster wheels.

http://didboss.free.fr/Porsche/origi...xster%2003.jpg I have sen them, though, but there's a similar wheel that is way more popular that isn't the twist.

Well worth the time and the hunt. You bagged a beauty. You proved that patience pays!

speeder 01-22-2005 09:08 PM

Those are definitely base model Boxster wheels, recognised them immediately, never seen anyone put them on a 911, though. Wonder where the wheels that came on the car went?

Looks like a very well cared for car, there are a few aesthetic details that I would need to change, (like the wheels and the license plate googa), but that's up to you. Personally I can't stand shiney wheels on cars w/ all black trim, (just looks wrong), I prefer things more blacked-out myself.

The important thing is that you got a good car and you like it, have fun!

I'm still kicking myself for passing on a few nice black cars because I didn't want to own a black car and live in SoCal.
Your's looks beautiful!

Nice find........ditch the wheels ........and the radar detector (it is ancient) and enjoy the guys in the rear view

911boost 01-23-2005 06:58 PM

Nice car! I miss my '88... :(

Those wheels are base model Boxster 16s. They'll sell easily (on eBay?) to Boxster owners who want winter wheels/tires or to 944 owners. They do look good on the four bangers. The reason Zeke is having such a hard time finding photos of those wheels is because nobody keeps them on their Boxsters as main wheels! (..would you?!?)

Did I mention I miss my '88? ..*sigh*..

Great looking car!

CHANGE THE WHEELS ASAP, those don't fit.

Jgordon 01-24-2005 08:55 AM

Sushinav, why are you backdating to 74? Wouldn't that be pretty much what you have now? or are you ditching the 3.2 for a 2.7?

adomakin 01-24-2005 10:03 AM

looks like a really nice car. wheel change would be good. perhaps some 16 fuchs?

Time to change (and none too soon) that screen name to "Black Beauty".
That is a drop dead sweet looking car.Wish ya the best of luck with it. The only Colts in my house are pistols! One's even a 1 911..weird!

}{arlequin 01-24-2005 11:01 AM

nice car... since you seem to be local, feel free to join the Dorki groups on any get togethers: http://www.dorkiphus.com/porsche/index.php

Bravo! Very very nice. IMO nothing beats a black car, nothing. Hey I read through most of your posts and didn't see it mentioned but for those of us presently shopping would you mind telling us your purchase price? It really helps to know what a beauty like that is going for but I know people are touchy when it comes to $. Thanks in advance.

plymouthcolt 01-24-2005 02:56 PM

I payed $18,500 for it. I believe I did overpay as you can find a 70k mile 911 for around $19,000, but the owner did have records going back to the beginning.

The only major item of repair is one rear sway bar mount.

I hate the wheels but I thought that is something I can change relatively easily (now I discover trying to locate 16x8 Fuchs is turning into a chore).

The only downside is trying to keep the freaking dust off the car--I have to dust it several times a day.

The power once it passes 3,000 rpm is incredible. It will take some time to get used to it.

How do I change my user name? Or must I select a brand new one?

vanwyk4257 01-24-2005 03:10 PM

I think the wheels are actually a very rare early 911 rim! ;) :D

Ooohhh, my eyes!!!

Nice car you have! Polished fuchs would really make it right. Enjoy it!

Those are Boxster wheels 16" x6" & 7" for early models.

Welcome to the black coupe club bro.

Get a good car cover. I keep mine covered even in the garage. (I assume you have a California Car Duster already).

I was thinking of going to 7s and 8s or 9s as well until I saw the price tag and the availability. You can get a nice set of 6s and 7s for $600-700. They work.
