Five month search has ended--here is my new 911!!
After five months and $600 in PPI money, I just picked up my new car this Saturday from Pennsylvania.
1988 Black 911 with 111k. Service records since day one. I'm not fond of the wheels and may go with 7" and 8" Fuchs. Other than that her paint and interior are in great shape. I just spent half the day driving around town. It will take me some time to get used to the feeling that cars behind me are right on my tail at red lights. There are just too many people on this board to thank for providing advice and guidance during my search. Here are some pictures I just took. I notice some people have a gallery here. How do I get my own gallery? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105910030.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105910057.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105910079.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105910105.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105910128.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105910150.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105910181.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105910200.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105910224.jpg |
Very nice.

Lookin' good!! Besides the wheel change, what else do you have in mind for the "Lady in Black"?
|
beauty! welcome to the joys (and trials) of 911 ownership!

Wow what a great looking car, your PPI money seemed to have payed off because that car is near perfect. Great find.
As for the owners gallery heres the link: http://www.pelicanparts.com/pmpre/index.html Also if you want to post a link in your footer at the end of all of your posts just make a link like you would normally would in a post and then copy that too your profile area and there you have it. A clean link to you newly created owners gallery. Goodluck. PM if you get lost or need help with it. I.E. post this kinda thing URL=http://www.pelicanparts.com/gallery/PorscheGuy79/]http://www.pelicanparts.com/gallery/PorscheGuy79/[/URL] that shows up when you are making a post and then post it in your profile but use the webpage for your owners gallery page. |
Nice. I agree about the wheels.
|
Very nice find!
What type of wheels are those? |
Congrats! Great looking car. I would go back to the original wheels too. I remember seeing it for sale somewhere but can't remember where.....
|
Wonderful car. I'm biased, of course.
I've never seen a second badge on the front valence. And what is that thing under the dash below the ignition? The best (and only) upgrade I have done is a Momo steering wheel, which I love. Good luck! |

It does take some getting used to the odd sounds from a 911. My friend owns a 993 and I asked him to drive mine, just to ease my fears and confirm it's a solid car. |
Beautiful car. Gotta love a g50 Carrera, and yes, I'm biased too.
plymouthcolt said: "I'm not fond of the wheels and may go with 7" and 8" Fuchs." 7s and 8s sound like the ticket. Maybe polished lips and petals? They look especially good on black and dark colored 911s. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105913705.jpg |
Congratulations. Prepare to be mentally preoccupied for the short term and, potentially, forever.
If this is your first 911 do your homework on what not to do in a corner at speed, especially while you're feeling the car out during the winter on wet roads, with gravel, etc. Enjoy! |

Beautiful car! I know what you mean about the cars in the rear view mirror issue. I've had my car for almost 3 years and I still get nervous at every red light when the car behind me looks like it's in my backseat...
|
Looks in great shape. Congrats & enjoy.

She's a beauty...If I were you I'd change my user now before I worried about changing the wheels......:D
|
nice congrats... are you gonna tell us what you ended up paying ?
|
Beautiful car. Agree about the wheels. Polished seems to look "right" with the late 80's vintage.
I'd highly recommend replacing the steering wheel. Either a 930S (more stock) or a Momo or equivilent - the fatter grip is much easier on the hands than the skinny, squared off stock wheel. Enjoy! |
