Tranny to Body Ground Strap question

Is there a way to check is this is the cause of the intermittent starting probelms im aving lately? I'm thinking ground strap as my instrument lights sometimes brigthen with revs and the alternator is ok.

What resistance values should a typical ground strap have? BTW, ive already replaced the battery to body strap...

You can run a fake ground off the tranny to some other ground area. The problem with ground problems is that the slightest movement can cause whether the car will start or not. Not sure about the 83 but if the car has a CD box, check the ground coming off the plate it rests on. Where it grounds to can get quite dirty.

Good luck.

Jared,

The strap is so cheap that IMHO you should just change it. Its certainly cheaper than the clutch cable which I ahd to replace 3 times until I realized it was the ground strap.....

Ground strap will also light up the brake light, cause hot starting problems and dim headlamps and instruments (from my experience).

My tranny ground strap was causing a false low oil pressure reading and hard hot starts. Picked up a nearly identicle strap at autozone for $2.50
