HELP!!SWAP:993 suspension for my'69

Hey Fellas-

I'm thinking about '95 993 suspension for the rear on my 1969 RSR project car. It currently has 930 turbo flares and I was actually planning on banana arms etc, but I think I need to make life a little more difficult this year......

Anyone familiar with swapping 993 rear suspension to a 911? Do I need custom brackets Or good eyes and a blow torch?

Thanks,

Capt. Crunch

You need a jig. There are only a handful of shops in the country that do it. It's considered a very big (and expensive) deal to get right.

But maybe Steve Weiner will sound in. He's done it.

Yep, you need a fixture made from a straight 993 ideally. You will need to cut alot of the rear crossmember away and build new shock towers that are reinforced appropriately to handle the loads you will be putting ther with the coilovers. What do you plan on doing up front? To get wheels and things to match up it seems like you should convert to 964 at least up there at a minimum. This is a major undertaking to say the least. My2c.

Do a search on Rennlist - my name is on at least one of the threads. Steve W. mainly posts there also.

This is a major undertaking - never heard of it being done on a street car.
