Show me your 930 with 3.8 RSR tail

I have some pics of a 964, but nothing on a 930. Please post if you have one.

What do you think about that 3.8 RSR tail on this 930?

I think air-cooled Porsche's look best when they retain the understated form-follows-function look. Factory 930 or 993s hit that sweet spot to my eye.
I wouldn't touch the black 930- it looks awesome.

Yes - I would love to see a picture as well.

While I also like the understated look, I think the 3.8 RSR wing does give you more downforce - so its also form follows function

You have to consider that 500hp modified 930's "Form Follows Function" is going to be different. Also considering the technology of 2005, some cosmetic changes are going to be function as in larger rims and tires. I love "retro" and therefore ended up with a duck on my long hood. But, I also like modernization in the form of performance.

Define this as 3.8 wing on mod'd 930 : COOL. Whale tail on a stock Civic with coffee can exhaust.......you can fill in the superlative.

It's not like your cutting it up for a 935 slant nose, your just bolting on a wing. Get a one piece glass one and change it as your mood changes Have fun, lovely car.

Agreed. I have a 3.8 wing on a normal Carrera (its the narrower Getty one) and go back and forth on its looks. It certainly is functional. I ended up deciding to paint the factory lid to match, with a second set of hands its only a 20 min switch once you have everything aligned and marked.

That black 930 in the pick is just about perfect. I can understand wanting the more agressive look, but I'd want to be able to return the car to its classic configuration.

Greg, do you have a picture of your car with the 3.8 wing?
It may be the closest to one on a 930...

Thanks for the comments...My buddy has a new carbon fiber one with 6-way adjustable wing. He's selling it for $600 cheap. I figure it's a great buy and may fit nicely with my 935 DP front that I will be putting on later.

Still on the fence. Some one push me over one side or the other please.

I have been considering this setup on my 930 as well. It is hard to judge what it will look like without seeing one in person. Here are a few photos I found that might help:

Note the 1-3/4 inch lexan lip, adds enough downforce to pick up a few mph through high speed large radius turns.

Randy - very nice !!!! Especially with the bare minimum rear bumper.

One question - how much louder (or not) comparing the straight pipe you have vs. a GHL/B&B/Borla/some kinda of sport muffler?

At least 2x, maybe 3x, but NO lag.

The bumper is factory with the rubber knobs removed, the holes welded up, and uses flat head socket bolts mouted in the bumper to secure it to the bumper shocks that have had the studs cut off and holes drilled.

That wing is too much bling for a street-driven Porsche. Why fiddle with near-perfection?

True carbon 3.8RSR wings weigh about 30 lbs less than o.e. 930 wings.

Wow...all nice pics. Tough call. The front 3/4 view is the best. The wing does look a bit out of porportion from the rear. There's too much bodywork showing from the rear...maybe a perfect place for a Porsche crest?

You're right...30lbs off the rear is an added bonus...

porschett: I prefer the whale tail look for the street, unless you are out trying to draw more attention than these things already do. However, the benefits on the track are clear, and for $600 it is cheap enough to buy it for fun and change the wing with your moods. JUST DO IT. (and post pics when you are done)

Randy, Randy, Randy: Where did THAT car come from?!?!? More data, more pics, stat!

TT
