Talking 935 style heim joint front control arms

What are the advantages and disadvantages of using the 935 style heim joint front control arms.

How reliable are they for street use on a daily basis?

Do they ride much harsher than the OEM front control arms?

I am waiting on parts and thought I would build a pair in my down time.

Thanks Todd

What about the diffrence between heim joint at the strut mount VS. OEM ball joint.

If you could use either, which would be best?

Thanks

I have heard from people who use these that they are a ***** to keep in adjustment.

Here is a picture that I have of them on a car:

La la la ... I have these done up too ...

I recommend balljoint for the street - but the whole setup seems overkill for a street car IMO.

Spherical bearing for the track.

Both will be harsh.

Project935 are you willing to share those drawings too or do you still plan to build them and sell them in the future?

Like " wont want to drive it " harsh or " dont drive on a date " harsh?

Thanks

Both ... build and maybe sell.

The date(s) certainly won't like the ride (I recall you were looking for places to keep supermodels) - unless you like to date "exciting" women.

The ride will be rough, but with everything you're doing to your car you should know that already. It should be much more responsive though.

I do envy you on TX roads - I could never drive mine on MI roads (I'm sure I'll get talked into it sometime).

Todd, I can't add any value to this discussion, but I HAVE to see your car when it is done. That thing is going to be SIIIIIICK. Between you and AMAC, there are some bad 930's running around North Texas. We have a couple of nice 930s down here too, much bigger than my little car (which is only "slightly fast" about 355 and 391 to the wheels), and I think we should get them all together sometime after you are done.

What is the Estimated Completion Date?

TT

Thanks,

I will have to compensate for their bony ass's ( I like em skinny and mean ) with extra comfy Sparco Milano seats.

I think I will build some and try it out and if it is too harsh I can always change back.

Thanks for the DATA!

Texas Turbo - You are on!

It will get a lot of road trips when done!

Estimated date is around the time I quit dicking with stuff and just finish it.

Now I am on a suspension tangent

Yeah, I know how tangents can distract you... at least building it is a big part of the fun as well.

Good luck, I think I am going to go drive mine for a while.

The original amnf. to make these copies of the PAG 935 item was erp. I talked to Cary Eisenlohr (Mr. erp) about the safety of using them on the street once, and he didn't want to certify that they were safe (understandable, as there is a lot of liability there). I got the strong impression that he felt they would be safe tho.

One big advantage is that they are very light weight. You can get them with ball joints, so maybe they wouldn't be so rough -esp. if you used stock upper shock mounts/camber plates.

If you do put them on a street car, be sure to post on how well they work over time. I'm interested in doing this as well, but I don't wanna be first - I always try to get others to carry out risky & expensive experiments....

Oh yeh - this is related...

Bose is working on an active suspension setup that is supposed to kill all conventional suspensions. Info is posted online - maybe at the Automobile magazine site. It bears watching.

Randy, I will be putting this stuff in the car in about 5-6 weeks. Blistein RSR front coilovers and TRG upside down rear coilovers (already sitting in the garage) and I will be using the TRG set up pictured is some of the above posts. I will keep you posted as to ride quality and such as well as how well it seems to stand up. I beleive Kurt is putting this TRG stuff into one of his cars as well. There was thread of his brought back to life recently about it.

Cheers, Jeff
