O2 Sensor - Question
When the CAT is removed / eliminated (on a 3.2)what becomes of the O2 sensor........and what about its input to the DME? Please pardon my ignorance on this one.
|
That is an interesting question. I think you need to keep the O2 sensor on DME pulsed injection. Based on what I know about bosch pulsed injection systems, I would guess that without the cat, the sensor would read high levels and try to lean out the mixture constantly. Perhaps someone knows a way around this. Sorry I didn't contribute much.

The O2 sensor is located before the cat so removing the cat has no effect on its operation.

My bad........I thought it sat right on the entry end of the cat. Thanks for the info......

There is a place to put the sensor (O2?) in the Dansk "test pipe"
Do I just remove the one from the cat and put it there? How can I tell if it is working properly...can moving these things causes a problem...I will try to remove it very carefully. |
If the O2 sensor is disconnected, the DME goes to a neutral AFR setting, i.e. neutral
fuel mixture set by the internal .50 volts & no longer optimizes the AFR @ 14.7. The DME can be run without the O2 sensor without a CAT or if with a CAT and the miixture is not too rich (>>1.5% CO before the CAT). Check out this web site (www.systemsc.com) on the Waveforms page for more info. |
