Winter in New England: There Is No Substitute!
Before:
![]() After: ![]() thank you, Mother Nature, for the 2 feet of snow, got to work with the shovel (no snowblower) and 2 hours later, the driveway is cleared, and now as the sun begins to set, we can get ready for the big game with the Steelers... drink hot chocolate, relax in a warm house, doesnt get any better than this! ![]() Last edited by on-ramp; 01-23-2005 at 12:51 PM.. |

That's how it felt here yesterday. We had 12"+ of snow overnight. My brother and I were going to drove to Detroit for the North American International Auto Show and only made it about 50 miles before thinking better of it and turning aroung. We must have passed at least 20 cars/trucks in the ditch. Fortunately I have a monster of a snowblower!

It's not the snow that gets me, it's the temperature, 12° F high for the past 80hrs, most of the time below zero.

The only thing that's keeping me sane through this is that I will be in Sebring soon for three days of racing...We got 30" here on Cape Ann.
Cheers, James

You think today's bad? Wait til tomorrow. At least according to this:
Mathematically, the most depressing day of the year. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6847012/ |

just me

I almost made it out of the driveway, and I noticed how badly folks were driving and thought better of putting myself in harms way.
I mean some folks just don't have a clue about winter driving.

Living with our climate, I'm strangely envious of you guys... I know it's probably a major PITA, but I'd love to experience a winter like that.

I'm definately suffering from S.A.D.; I need some warmth, sunlight and the smell of Cam 2.

Speaking of salt, we didn't get hit here in OH as badly as you guys on the east coast, but they still dump plenty of salt on the roads here. I think because they can get it so cheap (salt mines under lake Erie).
Seeing cegerer's M3 reminds me of my ritual now of rinsing the salt off my M3 in the garage with warm water, and then spraying on Salt-X. Has anyone here tried Salt-X before? Since this is my first winter here (from TX), I was wondering if this stuff really works. So far, none of my Aluminum or Cad plated parts show any signs of corrosion. I also used the Wurth Protective Wax on as much as I could access. I just need to make it through this winter as I plan to buy a beater for next year.
