Bondo and cold weather.

I thought the repairs I did around the top of the rear engine lid where there are water drains would hold up. With the cold weather here my bondo work developed cracks and fell off. I filler the drains for the sunroof with por 15 and usee bondo to smooth everything then painted it too match car. Now the bondo has cracked and actually fell off. Now I need to refill and paint again. How thick can i go with bondo. Also the car never sees rain or snow and is garage kept. I don't want this to happen again.

Bondo shouldn't be more than 1/8" thick. The thinner the better.

Are you applying the bondo to the paint or POR15? If so, that is your problem. Bondo needs to be applied to bare metal.

Bondo should be applied to scratched bare medal for the best adhesion,Puttys that take out the scratches can be applied over primer, also when your using por-15 you should use the tye coat they suggest.

I used a lightweight body filler called Rage, but I didn't go much thicker than 1/8" anywhere. So far no problems. Love to post this pic!
