Using Carb Air Filters with '73 MFI on 911E

I just finished sanding/painting my shroud, valve adjustment, mounting the MFI (new gaskets etc.). So the question is... to clean up the look of the motor, can I use 2 air filters (and cover plates) typically used with carburated motors? Have people tried this? Do I have the vertical space? If it can work, will the engine get enough air (or too much)? Any recommendations/suggestions are welcome. Cheers.
