Ruf Rice?

Has anyone seen this "riced" 911. It could not really be a Ruf but I must really be misguided by what rice is.

for me rice is a front wheel car with an idiotic spoiler, fart exhaust and would not survive not one lap. This car looks like it would lap me rapidly.

I'd say rice is cosmetic stuff that seves no purpose. The mods on this car appear to be needed.

That wing has got to go for street driving. I think its rice if the owner leaves it on all the time. If it just for the track, then its a different story. I think it's on just to draw attention, which = rice.

That is Steve Beddor's car, the wing was fully functional for a hillclimb he was doing. THIS CAR IS NOT RICE, NEITHER IS THE WING.

The car is a RUF, the oil coolers are up front which recieve adequate cooling and the intercoolers are in the fenders, here are pictures of a nearly identical car...

Some more of a different CTR2

In the midst of all my pic posting and editing I forgot to answer your question sketchers. The car pulls fresh air through the vent on the decklid at the base of the rear window, you can see it in the last picture of the yellow car I posted. Once again, Steve Beddor's car is NOT RICE, and anyone who voted "rice" doesn't know WTF they're talking about. They might as well call Jack Olsen's car rice, because of the wing he puts on when he goes to Willow Springs.

Through the spoiler, the RUF wing has an opening that is on the other side (we cant see it from this angle). The air is channeled down the two sides of the spoiler and into the engine. If you look closely you can see the bulg under the spoiler where the intake is. Most of the cooling air in a motor comes from under the car.

No need to yell. It was a simple question. Thanks for the answer.

I don't care what you call it or how functional it is, that wing on the first picture looks rediculous. Totally destroys the killer look of these high dollar supercars. For that much money they could/should do a better job asthetically.

Yep, that is from the 2001 Virginia City Hillclimb, and that car won, beating a Ferrari F40 by almost 6 seconds. In fact that picture was lifted from Doug Hayashi's Pulp Racing web page, with the stupid comment added somewhere along the way.

You can read the details here:

It may be Ruf but on the street it sure looks like Rice.

I understand that the RUF is not Rice but could someone explain how a wing like that keep the car on the ground?? Physics was not a class I excelled in. Wings are designed to create downforce correct, but what keeps the front end on the ground??

Here is what I understand from sitting at the bench, racing with people that have wings like these: The advantage of hanging the wing so high is the fact that it sits far away from any tubulences created from the RUF, errr - roof . It gives you a nice constant down force. This isn't for city driving, but makes a big difference at those 120mph turns. I think down force from wings can be worth about a couple of hundred pounds, which also explains why the front of the car isn't coming up. The force is mainly proportional to the angle and the depth of the spoiler, not the height at which it hangs. I agree, the car looks ridiculous, but it makes sense, more than it does on a 90 horsepower 4 door civic.
