Well, she's gone :(

A sad day indeed as I watched the SC get put on a flatbed to head of to her new owner. It was a tough decision, but with insurance settlement and proceeds from the sale, I'll be able to explore new Porsche territory and will probably end up a Boxster S. My wife wants to enjoy a Porsche with me and this will be the best compromise for both of us for now.

The new owner of the SC is none other than our own Dave from TRE and a little birdy whispered that he may work his magic on her for a special project. If it pans out, it will be nothing less than spectacular, I am sure. I am not sure a decision has been made for sure, though.

I will still be here on a daily basis and will still go to track days and the 'runs, even if I do end up with a Speed Yellow water-pumpin' Boxster

I'll try to post some pictures of the SC in memorium as well as some of my anticipated purchase...

So, at this time, hoist schooner and joint me in a salute and farewell to the car formerly know as 'SPRCRRA' (super carrera for the phoenitically challenged)

-B

Look on the bright side, you get a rag top with AC that actually works...

I feel for you brother. But make no mistake, a Boxster is a great car. Different fun than an old 911, but plenty of fun non-the-less.

Sorry to hear that. You have put so much time in that car and it was looking great. Give me a buz if you need a fix and you can take a drive in my car. I finally cldeared my driveway so I can take it out again after sitting in the garage for over a month.

I actually managed to edit the video from a previous WSIR day and will burn it on DVD for you to remember you car.

Let's try to set up something for next week.

Hmmmmm, was that REALLY a Freudian slip, or did I mean to say joint

I have not pulled the trigger on a replacement yet, so anything is still possible....

Look at it as a temporary exile imposed by the Porsche gods. They want you back, but thought you needed to sit on the bench for a while.

Brad,

Just did a search and read about the accident. Sorry for the insensitive post above... Hang in there, good will come of this.

kevjandon,

That is a very interesting cycle you have gone thru, eventually coming full circle back to an SC. I would love to hear about your logic (or was it emotion?) at each step of the process.

I had an 80SC for 9 years, then last spring traded for a 70T which I have been putting many hours into this winter (new carpet, seats, muffler, rust repair, etc.). I love the T, especially now that I have so much sweat equity in it, but sometimes I miss the power and reliability of my SC. The problem for me with the SC was that it just wasn't making my heart go pitter-pat anymore - plus I've always wanted an early 911.

Now I sometimes daydream about having 2 911's....the T for fair weather days and a newer one for every other day LOL. Is that what you were thinking at one point? If so, was it not as good of a situation as you had hoped for?

Just curious!!!

Brad: There must be some comfort (ok, not much) knowing that Dave and the boys will put her to good use. Like a Phoenix, she'll rise again!!

Hang in there.

Hey Jamie, no worries man... I am glad you are still enjoying the '79.

I am hoping the Boxster, or whatever I get, will make MY heart go pitter-patter!

I hope Dave persues the project, it sounds really cool!
