Next week engine tin powder coating. Any suggestions on colour? I quite like the grey of the fan housing...

Wow! Now just keep it off those nasty English roads, so it will stay clean.

Cheers, George

I kept mine flat black, as it makes for almost a spelling contrast with my green shroud.

I used a small karcher style pressure washer hooked up to the hot tap. Round one I used Gunk but that wasn't strong enough so I used some Truck wash from work. That did the trick. (note to self: buy new bog brush in the morning)

I think the oil leak was from the recently replaced (by PO) left oil line - I cant see how the oil could have got up by the cam carrier if it was from the cylinder area with all that air blowing it down.

The headbolts seemed nice and tight, I applied a fair degree of torque to them and they held so I'm crossing my fingers on this one. Still even if one was broke I'd have to get it back together anyway - the landlord's called time; I gotta be out mid May

911mot, I really like the fan/shroud color combination. Is the fan color gold or bronze? The shroud is light grey?

The truck wash you used is very alkaline. I hope you rinsed it off _completely_ right away.

Generally, be sure something is safe for Mg and Al before using it to clean your motor.

the chain housing has a large O-ring seal for the cam to enter. the cam is supposed to be centered in the O-ring.
