speedometer off
yesterday I took a long drive and took along a friends GPS to compare my speedometer to, and found that I was 5mph off @ slower than 50 mph but was off close to 10 mph at all speeds of 60 or greater.
I remember someone doing a writeup on here about how to drill a hole in the speedo and make the adjustment...but my question is. will this adjustment fix the total problem or are my speeds still going to be off @ some range? AM I better off sending it to North Hollywood Speedometer or palo alto speedometer or some such place to fix this.

Most 911 speedo's are off by that amount. So are their odo's. It is possible to do yourself but if you can part with the $100 I think it is better to send out. I sent mine to No. Hollywood and it came back with a new face and very accurate. The odo will always be wrong even after calibration.

Mine came out pretty accurate. At 35 it is right on and also at 60. I like to do everything I can myself on cars. But some things are not worth doing yourself. I even researched how to calib it myself and said eff it.

I did the drill and pot reset as in the archives dialed into my specific tires. Different tire mfg will have different diameters for the same tire size afaik. The odo is still the same. The routine is 30mph and 60mph testing. Mine's perfect, afaik, when compared to following a new Accord on a flat straight road in cruise control.
that said gauge faces get kinda worn out w/age so Dean's advise is best.
