Induction possibilities for a 3.6 longblock
I’m currently looking at the possiblity of buying a 3.6 (964) longblock. The engine is a longblock only, void of the motronic brain and intake. Distributor is still there.
What are my options for replacing the intake and the brain? I know I could do carbs and an ignition conversion easily, but I want to focus on EFI possibilities. I’m guessing I can find a 964 DME on eBay or the parts board here. Finding an entire induction system doesn’t seem too far fetched. What do a DME and a 964 induction setup go for? TWM-3003 ITBs on Weber manifolds would be a nice option also, allowing me to step up to a hotter cam at a later time. Assuming I buy a set of the 3003s, could I then run a 964 DME, or would I need some other kind of controller? Any other options or advice from someone who’s BTDT? Please don’t suggest MFI. I’ve just sold all of my MFI stuff off, so I can’t even think about doing it. TIA Last edited by Shuie; 03-26-2005 at 02:40 PM.. |

Go with the 3003's and go with aftermarket EFI. We have very good experiences with Haltechs, thats why we became a distributor/installer of these products. There are also some other very capable EFI systems..
High end : Motec, EFI Mid range: Haltech, Autronic,DTA, Electromotive,Link,AEM,FAST ... the list goes on Low end: SDS, Megasquirt note: ALL of the above can control your engine and allow tuning of spark and fuel.. some i broke up the manufacturers simply by cost.. and there are many manufacturers I left out may have overlooked

Thanks for the help!
Tim what kind of a budget do i need for the Haltech? I know the 3003s, linkage, manifolds, etc are ~$2K worth of hardware |

![]() the seller of the longblock mentioned this to me. Im not expecting Honda fuel economy or anything, but I dont think the car would get 10 mpg with 50mm PMOs and a crazy cam. Im sure it would be a hoot to drive. |

I will defer to the host here, as he sells another system..
having said that,We sell the E6X for about $1300..and the F10 fuel only computer for a bit less you will need to a get high pressure fuel pump(s) and proper regulator, and the other bits to make the throttle bodies work the Haltech kit comes with all sensors, the pickup, and a unterminated wiring harness, we can supply the trigger disc you need PMOs will work fine and make a really powerful engine, but isnt that taking a step back in time?
