Todays stupid question. To prime or not to prime?

Had the tank out everything is clean, painted and reinstalled. When I add the new gas, do I prime the lines to the fuel pump? My pump is in the rear. Or turn the key a few times and will the pump prime itself? Don't what to burn the pump running it dry...

Jim,

Had my tank out during the resto on my 74. Relaced all the lines, flushed the tank and reinstalled it with no priming. Put in 10 Gal and turned the key. Within 3 sec. she fired up. IMHO you don't need to prime. My pump seemed to pull it out just fine.
