Wet 911 SC Motor

When it rains and my car is parked at work all day, the motor gets wet and runs like crap. I noticed its wet up high under the grille on the deckid. I opened it up before I left work this evening and there was water on top of the air box, a/c compressor, and coil. Is there a way to fix this or do I need to put some kind of tarp over the deckild when it rains?

something is wrong - the car should be just fine with rain going thru the decklid. check your intake system...

How do your ignition wires look?

If a little water causes it to run poorly, I'd change the plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. You might also look at all of your vacuum lines carefully, but that's a distant second place suspect in my opinion.

I had the same problem and fixed it with new plug wires. Let it rain!

Clean all the connections to the coil. Replace you ignition wires and use some silicone dielectric grease on all the connections.

You might just want to eliminate the wet Beru fiasco entirely with a set of Clewett Engineering High Performance Ignition Wires - RED, 911 (1970-83), 911 Turbo (1984-89) [Photo] [Photo] http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/POR_911M_igniti_pg2.htm#item7

I doubt these wires as designed even need any dielectric silicone grease to operate in the rain.

Cheers,

Joe
