964 Engine vacuum hookup question

For those of you with a 964 I'm installing in a '74 911 I am trying to figure out where the hose that connects to this fitting on the manifold goes? Do I need it? Please see picture. By the way, anyone have pictures of a single alternator pulley intallation? Thanks, MGH

Silly me in a hurry

Sorry, I meant to put a arrow pointing to it. It is the shiny silver fitting just below and in front of the rubber 'Y' elbow. Good 1/2" in diameter. this is on the right rear of the engine looking forward. Thanks, MGH

I've no idea what the silver thing is

single pulley

This is what the conversion piece looks like

Though you probably don't want to change the lower pulley out.

Not needed, just block off or you will have a massive vacuum leak

Listen to Bill, you don't want to swap the lower pulley on a 964 engine. I believe Bill has a nice photo of a 2 piece crank made this way.

You could change the lower pulley but then the crank will be more vulnerable, yhe 964 relly does want the harmonic balancer that is part of the pulley. here is what most of the factory RS did

Bill, what you have shown in the upper photo is the 993 single pulley. It will not fit a 964 because the 964 used the tapered crankshaft snout. I'm sure you know this but i may not be clear here.

Yeah I know, that's my car.

Yours is on of the few 964RS tht I have seen w/ the single lower pulley

John's 964RS

Even most of the 993Cups came w/ the triple lower pulley. Though they didn't nmeed it for anything.

Thanks everyone for the help. I see John's RS did delete 1 of the 3 bottom pulleys. I will try to come up with something. I have been waiting a long time to get this engine in the car although I still have to get busy on installing the 964 gauges before I can even start things up. MGH
