eliminating jack post

Anyone out there think about or follow through with eliminating the jack post on their early 911. My car is a 71t and personnally I think they look aweful poking out the side. Since they are not really part of the rocker couldn't they be cut back and blocked off. It would make the rocker area look cleaner. Don't most people jack from the trosion tube area anyway?

Unless you carry a floor jack around wih you, how you gonna jack it up if you get a flat on the road?

I think you'd be better off with a color-coordinated cover plate..

A lightweight aluminum 944 scissors jack under the control arm also works. As with all emergency jacks, block the opposite diagonal tire so the car stays put.

To me the convenience of being able to jack up the entire side of the car, outweighs the asthetics of the cover.

Whew!

Until I took a look here, I thought someone was trying to get Jack banned right along with Z-Man!

Talk about taking it personally, how about the title of your thread. I thought you were trying put an end to jack olsen's posts with the endless glamour shots of him and his car!

Wouldn't be Pelican without those now would it.

As far as the jack tubes go, I took the rockers off my SC, and they're real ugly. I was going to trim them down a bit, at lest shave off the bottoms a bit, you know give them a diagonal profile. The way I see it, that part of the tube gives no support during jacking.

jwetering, I think that would be a good compromise. As for banning "Jack", my car wouldn't be in half the shape it is if it were not for his insight(either in response to my posts or from reading others). Thanks people.
