Question A.I.R. --- who are these guys?

They have sold body parts for a long time - since the 70s - who are they, etc?

Craig, They are "American International Racing", am not sure if they are still around. I bought a load of stuff from them in the 70"s, they had all the zoomy race stuff, and really, really lightweight race glass. I think that actor Jim Garner was a part owner in the early seventies. Doug

On second thought, I remember they were based out of Long Beach, Ca. Maybe Zeke could chime in here if he knows if they are still around. Doug

I don't remember them in Long Beach and that's where I worked in the fiberglass industry in the mid 60's thru my departure from the business altogether to work construction in 1970.

I believe AIR is up near Magic Mtn. in Valencia.

In the late 1960's, the company name was associated with the actor James Garner, who (like Steve McQueen) was an actor/racer.

They're a fiberglass company, now. Actually, they're the Porsche-specific division of Hannemann Fiberglass, which is based in Azusa, California.

Not to be confused with another A.I.R., Pelicanite KevinP73's company Automotive Innovations and Restoration.

AIR was originally james garner's race team. Dan Mc Gloughlin got the rights about the time that he converted a lola t-70 coupe to street use (after their use in THX-1138 lucas movie) the lola was painted to look like one of garner's cars and van nuys blvd cruise scene was agog at the sight of the land based v-8 powered shark. Dan got into porsche styling and making parts for peter gregg, whittington bros, meister, andial, etc etc etc starting with the 73 RSR and cluminating in the glenn blakley designed T Bird swap shop 935 that won daytona. Some of his styling was great, some rather interesting (not on my car ,you don't!!) His company was indeed sold to Hanneman last year while dan is nowpursuing his interest in a movie ranch. We distribute most of their line as well as Getty's (Ma Shaw supplier too)

Dan sold the Burbank bldg in the late 80's and rented a portion of All Star Tire in Long Beach. They were only there about a year before moving back north to Sun Valley and then to San Fernando.

KevinP73 ... Is it a coincidence that your company name creates the same acronym as that of your previous employer ?
