Fabspeed Fit Problem

I just bought the Fabspeed Euro Pre muffler and their
dual out muffler. The muffler does not line up with the
Pre muffler. I am using the factory muffler and Euro pre muffler
for testing till I get this sorted out. The factory mufler
lined up perfectly with the Euro Premuffler. I remember
in the past Fabspeed had some fit problems, I thought
that was history....
Any body else had any fit issues with the 3.2 Fabspeed
muffler ?

Thanks
Chuck

Chuck,

I don't know about your situation, but a few months ago I ordered a new copper gasket set for my cat bypass from them. The gaskets did not line up very well at all and when I called they were not helpful. I ended up filing a little bit out of the bolt holes in the gasket to make it work.

Still love the pipe though

Funny, I had a hell of a job getting my Fabspeed airbox cover to fit as well! Not sure if I have any extra power but I love the noise!

They are aware of this issue are at least they were - according to Joe a jig was errr - messed up and a couple left the shop that did not fit. Did you just purchase it?

Mention Pelican and the board and they will take care of you if it is not right.

Update....
My mechanic called Fabspeed and they sent out a replacement part.
The faulty item is a pipe that connects the premuffler to the muffler.
The replacement was also bad !
My mechanic elected to fix the problem and get on with the install.
He then noticed that the dual tips were not an equal length !!!
Again, he spent his time correcting this problem.
This exhaust was purchased last month and I am not very
happy with the issues that were encountered on the install.
I do have to say that once all was over and done with...
this is a very nice sounding exhaust and very well made.

That's amazing Chuck - Fabspeed had a problem with the pre-muffler fit a couple of years ago but supposedly they fixed the problem, which was with a bad jig. I'm really surprised they have the problem again. A few of us had some real problems getting Fabspeed to make it right - their solution was to pay you to fix it in the field, which would have involved cutting and rewelding a nice new polished stainless part. It took me forever to get Fabspeed to just take it back and refund me. Here's how mine fit:

I had one that was built after the problem was fixed and it was fine. I have since sold it but I think I bought it around 18 months ago.

You guy's , especially with 930 turbo Fabspeed mufflers , should "eyeball" the phony wire-fed welds ,off the turbo flange to input ,on muffler. They all are cracking! Mine cracked on the very first drive! Then the crack continued until the parts nearly separated! I contacted Fabspeed , and corresponded with a "Joe" , He had me send him photos. as he claimed it wasn't their muffler, however he finally admitted it was , after reviewing the photos. Long story short, he was willing to do NOTHING, to repair my new , (at the time) , $1000.00 grosly over-priced piece of crap muffler. Would'nt even return an e-mail or phone call! Really sad that they, (Fabspeed) , is allowed to conduct abominable business practices ,as well as self-destructive ,defective over-priced Porsche products!

Dave, that sucks!

I have to say though that I just had my fabspeed single-out 930 muffler off to pass smog and as I was polishing it up for reinstallation I was once again struck by how solidly it was made and how nice the welds are. As I recently bought a Lincoln tig machine I've become even more aware of weld technique. My muffler has some 30K on it and looks like new except for where the bottom of the muffler has dragged a driveway. Perhaps the quality has suffered at times due to a change in welders, I'm pretty sure Joe isn't out back burning rod

Yea , I originally , questioned "Fabspeed" , as to maybe I just got a "lemon" , however , I know of three other 930 owners over the past two years , with similar defective welds in same locations, (running circumfrential around center of weld bead at ,"in" flange ,and "out" flange. The welds on mine are not "TIG" , They are wire-fed , non gas , flux-core wire at best, welds , completely inapropriate for 304 stainless in that particular area, and would be graded a "D" in any welding school , or for that matter, Highschool metal shop class, in the Country! The worst part about all this , is the effort I put into trying to reconcile the situation fairly with Fabspeed , and them just blowing me off. So I will always tell everyone I can about them , when the subject arises. Just makes one , ponder, as to when the rest of the internals , and the main body will start to self-destruct?

Unbelievable. Especially since they criticize competitors on their website for the same problem.

Man, this is bringing back unpleasant memories. I had to get really aggressive with Joe to get him to do anything. The excuses and "solutions" he offered were a joke. Went on for about 3 weeks before he finally agreed to take it back. Never again.

Try "THREE MONTHS" dealing with "Joe" !! , If they were in my home State , I would have loved to have "met with him by surprise walk-in, with his junk Porsche product"! They advertise in "Panorama" , to which I am a PCA member , leading one to beleive they were reputable!? I gave up on resolution ................"life goes on"..............just trying to inform others about them, and their products.

"For everything else, there's MasterCard..." which is exactly why you buy this stuff with it, so that if after being overly polite and not getting the situation resolved eat the return shipping and call your bank to decline the original purchase charge. After a few dings to the manufacturer's credit score they might wake up...

Granted that is to be used as a last resort, but don't waste hours on the phone or using your angle grinder to make it fit. That's your own fault.

I am really upset with all this.
I really like the look and sound of
the Fabspeed so I would not know
what other choices I would have.
First B&B had a good reputation, then
went bad, then GHL had a good rep, then went bad
then Fabspeed had a good rep...
What is going on here ???

I had a friend that had a GHL that split open or cracked at the seams
on the muffler TWICE !! last year. Two different mufflers split.
GHL suport was good, they sent another muffler right out and he finally
got one that held up. The crack on the welds was also a B&B issue
at one time also.
