What's a Weissachs?

1982 PORSCHE 911 SC WEISSACH, 911 SC, red, 89k original miles, 6 cylinders, 5 spd, ac, power windows, power door locks, cruise control, CD, alarm, lthr interior, sunroof, keyless entry, super clean in/out, stored for 4 years, runs great, front/rear spoiler, $17, 500 firm

This ad from CollectorCar TraderOnline.com.

Now, I assume the price several thousand too high - seen lots of other early 80's SC's in as good of condition for less, but wondering the significance of the Weissachs designation. Also, the only other ones I have seen were GOld in color, but was that always true? Model years? Performance differences if any? Cosmetic/eguipment differences?

Weissach was a mostly cosmetic package available on '82 SCs, I suppose they are nice looking but not worth a whole bunch more than a std SC. Condition and maintainance history are everything on these cars.

What did you get "different" on one? Are they worth any kind of premium?

Porsche Crest

It was a 1980 model, not an '82 ... I smell a misrepresented fake, for a profit, of course!!!

Here is one of many threads on the subject:

Trying to educate myself: What is the deal with Weissach cars? What does that mean?

Thanks EarlyS Man, that would seem to be pretty definitive. The listed one was bogus, huh. Pretty lame.

By the way, "Weissach" is the name of the city where Porsche's engineering department is located.

I believe there's a Weissach in the classifieds here. Personally, I think that red interior is ugly. I wouldn't pay a premium for a trim package.

The interesting twist/trivia about the Weissach edition, is that it was the only SC model that came with 7 & 8 inch diameter 15" Fuchs, which in turn allow PCA F & G Stock club racers extend the wheel sizes one inch up to the later/larger size of 8 & 9 inch Fuchs.

I thought the Weissach only came out in platinum or black colour.

Says the one you are looking at is a red one?

Not meaning to "pick a nit", but Weissach is actually a very small town, not a city, in the middle of rolling fields.

One of the reasons Porsche put it there was to be able to have a private test track, called Weissach track, and thus avoid any proximity to large numbers of neighbors. Charming litle town, with a nice bierstube in it (but then, don't all German towns have a nice bierstube?).
